The idea of using tea strainers appeared a long time ago when tea was served
to emperors and other high society, they didn't want to see little pieces of
tea in their cups. The tea strainer was created and since then this tool is a
close companion of loose tea.
There are two ways of using it:
- When tea is already brewed in
a teapot or some other vessel, the strainer is placed over the drinking cup
and it catches the tea leaves as the tea is poured through it and into the
cup.
- Place the tea in a deep
basket strainer then place the strainer in a cup. Fill the cup with hot
water, cover the cup with a saucer or a lid and let it steep. Take the
strainer holding the tea leaves out and the tea is ready to be enjoyed. It's
easy, isn't it? Enjoy!
